The Pacific Islands Forum (PIFs) is the Pacific region’s premier political and economic policy organization.  Founded in 1971, it comprises 18 members: Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

The Forum works to achieve this by fostering cooperation between governments, collaborating with international agencies, and representing the interests of its members.  The Secretariat facilitates political discussion to generate ideas and options for regional action and coordinates the implementation of Forum decisions.

PIFS has been a member of PRIF’s TA implementation committees on the Pacific Infrastructure Performance Indicators (PIPIs) and Improving Transport Accessibility and has been an invited guest at energy sector working group meetings and the review of Pacific island members’ national infrastructure investment plans.
