As a founding partner of PRIF, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (NZ-MFAT) is one of the major contributors to PRIF. NZ-MFAT aims to make New Zealanders safer and more prosperous by building connections with and influencing other countries to advance New Zealand’s interests, project New Zealand values and secure the outcomes that matter to New Zealand. The New Zealand Aid Programme delivers the country’s official support for developing countries, with a particular focus on the Pacific Islands region, which receives almost 60% of New Zealand’s official development assistance. New Zealand’s engagement in the Pacific is guided by the principles of understanding, friendship, mutual benefit, collective impact and sustainability.
