The Pacific Community (SPC) is the principal scientific and technical organization in the Pacific region, proudly supporting development since 1947. SPC is an international development organization owned and governed by its 26 Pacific country and territory members.
SPC is a member of the Council of Regional Organisations in the Pacific (CROP).
SPC works for the well-being of Pacific people through the effective and innovative application of science and knowledge, guided by a deep understanding of Pacific islands' contexts and cultures.
This organization covers more than 20 sectors and is renowned for knowledge and innovation in such areas as fisheries science, public health surveillance, geoscience, and conservation of plant genetic resources for food security.
Over the years, the SPC has been a regular member of PRIF’s technical assistance and knowledge products review committees, a host to PRIF consultants and technical support in the preparation of Pacific Infrastructure Performance Indicators (PIPIs) 2016, a regular participant in transport, water supply and sanitation, and energy PRIF sector working group meetings, and a key partner in the work on Sustainable Sanitation Options Study and Review of the Framework for Action on Energy Security in the Pacific 2010-2020 and the development of the regional energy framework 2020-2030.
