This report has been prepared for the International Development Group (IDG) of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It summarizes the current state of pollution in Tarawa lagoon, the effect this has on both public and lagoon ecosystem health, and whether installing causeways or openings in existing causeways would improve flushing of the lagoon and have a positive impact on human and ecosystem health.
