Developing economies in East Asia and the Pacific (EAP), recovering from trade tensions and struggling with a viral disease, now face the prospect of a global financial shock and recession. The region’s relative resilience, demonstrated during recent crises, is being tested again by the COVID-19 pandemic.  The pandemic is profoundly affecting the region’s economies, but the depth and duration of the shock are unusually uncertain. This update, presents both a baseline and a lower-case scenario.
