PRIF offers a range of support to our development partners including Sector Working Groups, coordination and access to tailored information.
Sector Working Groups
PRIF has established and coordinates Sector Working Groups (SWG) which comprises of members from our development partners. The SWGs have a Lead and Deputy Coordinator and are supported by a dedicated PRIF Focal Point.
There is a corresponding Sector Working Group for each PRIF-supported sector:
- Energy (eg. electricity supply, renewable energy)
- Information and Communications Technology (eg. IT networks, internet)
- Transport (eg. aviation, maritime, roads)
- Urban Development (eg. solid waste disposal, landfill gas recovery)
- Water and Sanitation (eg. water supply, water sources, sanitation and sewerage, irrigation, drainage)
The SWGs share, discuss approaches to coordinating at project level and provide input to PRIF projects. PCO disseminates weekly and fortnightly sector news Ebulletins containing stories from various media sources across the region. In addition SWG projects which have been implemented by PRIF include the: Sanitation Options for Pacific Island Countries, Improving Transport Accessibility in the Pacific, Benchmarking of Power Utilities etc.
See "Sectoral approaches" for more information on Sector Working Group activity.
The PRIF Coordinaton Office aims to attend or will try to organise partner representation at relevant regional, national and sectoral events. PRIF also has the ability, contacts and combined partner support to introduce and bring together additional stakeholders such as technical specialists, regional Associations and bodies.
Access to Information
The PRIF Coordination Office has two new tools available through the website to enhance the accessibility and sharing of information: the Document Library and the Project Database. The Document Repository functions as a public online library with journals, articles and reports that are searchable by country and sector. The Project Database is currently exclusive to PRIF donor partners and contains comprehensive data on almost 400 Pacific projects. The records contain details across a range of variables and summary and comparison charts and tables can be compiled.
PRIF updates stakeholders on PRIF activities via a regular newsletter roughly every two to three months. To subscribe to the newsletter please go to the home page and fill in the subscription section.
Through PRIF and our partners, there are a number of research and knowledge hub products, reports, data and national infrastructure plans that are also useful and available to our stakeholders.
